PARK POLICIES

We ask that all visitors to Look Park follow the policies listed below. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a park ranger or call the office at 584-5457. Thank you.

  1. The park is open daily starting 7 a.m. seven days a week, 365 days a year. Visitors should leave the park by dark unless attending an event at the Pines Theater. The park gates close at 3pm in January & February.  There may be opening delays due to inclement weather, but we do open every day.  Please visit our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.
  2. Look Park has a carry in, carry out policy. What you tote in, you must tote out. This includes any form of trash; bottles, cans, paper, leftover lunch bags, wrappers, etc. There are no public trash receptacles in the Park to dispose of waste materials. Please pack discarded materials or any such other items out with you as you prepare to leave, and leave the park beautiful for others to enjoy.
  3. Picnics, charcoal grilling, and propane grills are allowed with a picnic permit issued by the park. To obtain a picnic permit, you may call the main office at (413) 584-5457 or obtain one from a park ranger. Tents, tables, and hammocks are not permitted without a picnic permit.
  4. Alcoholic beverages are permitted on park premises to permitted picnic groups only. A park alcohol permit is required for every group consuming alcohol at a site or pavilion. Alcohol is permitted in the park from May 1—November 1 only. The park DOES NOT allow kegs or glass containers of any kind on park grounds.
  5. Blanket picnics for small groups are permitted in the perimeter of the ballfield and around the water spray park. However, no grilling or alcohol is allowed in these areas.
  6. Dogs must be leashed at all times for the safety of others. Leashes are not to exceed six feet in length. It is your responsibility to clean up after your pet; mutt mitts are available around the park. Pets are not allowed in the Wildlife Center or Pines Theater at any time.
  7. Please obey the park speed limit of 15 MPH and comply with all requests from the rangers.
  8. Please be respectful at all times of our other park visitors. Music must be kept at a low level.
  9. The park does not allow solicitations of any form. Similarly, any postings or banners must be approved by park officials.
  10. Per Northampton City Ordinance, there is no smoking allowed at Look Park.
