Salaried Position

Look Park, a 157 acre private, non-profit park, is seeking a dynamic individual for the full time position of Development Director.  The Development Director will be responsible for developing and managing all aspects of the Park‘s fundraising efforts and will support all segments of the Park’s community outreach efforts. Candidates must be able to manage volunteers and committees to assist with events, programs and other efforts.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required with five or more years of experience, in the area of fundraising, communications and/or media relations.  Strong computer, communications and interpersonal skills are needed. As well as resourcefulness and the ability to work independently is essential as well the ability to manage multiple projects.

Look Memorial Park Development Director

The Development Director will join a dynamic management team that oversees the year round operation of one of New England’s premier park facilities.  The Development Director will carry out the administrative, managerial and supervisory work related to the Park’s fundraising efforts and assist in communicating the Park’s mission and goals throughout the Pioneer Valley.  


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director and Development Committee to create a comprehensive development program which increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the Park.
  • Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities to ensure that the fundraising goals are being achieved.
  • Develop strategies for cultivating relationships with the Friends of Look Park group, maintaining relationships with current donors and engaging staff and the Board in fundraising efforts.
  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the Park’s mission to its donors and to maximize public awareness of the Park’s fundraising activities in the community.
  • Actively identify and develop corporate, community and individual prospects for potential sponsorship support for Park projects and programs in conjunction with the Staff and Board.
  • Oversee the administration of a donor mailing list and database.  
  • Develop and manage timelines for the Park’s fundraising activities.
  • Oversee and manage the production of the Friends newsletter and the Park’s Annual Report.
  • Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization.
  • Represent the Park at external events and activities as needed.



  • Bachelor’s Degree with five or more years of experience preferably in the areas of communications, fundraising or media relations.
  • Ability to build, maintain and manage long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
  • Ability to work independently and be able to establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the Park management team and Board of Trustees.
  • Display creativity and innovation to introduce new and unique approaches to improve the finances of the Park and to create new opportunities for fundraising.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Good computer skills required.
